Excuses: Exposed

$2.99

Excuses: Exposed! was created to be a tool, a discussion starter for you and your child, that will help guide you in intentionally tackling a habit that will undermine your child's ability to take responsibility for their own actions: the habit of making excuses.

Excuses are statements that bring comfort at the moment. They help us justify the decisions we've made. They help us explain why we DIDN'T do what we ought to have done. But excuses need to be exposed for what they really are: a means of neglecting our given responsibilities. A habit of making excuses will slow down a person's ability to grow and mature, and it's worth working intentionally to identify this habit and move away from making it a common, daily part of our routines. This resource contains 20 discussion-based lessons with thinking exercises meant to help you and your child identify excuses as well as the deceptions they contain and the ways that they hinder responsible character growth. Scripture referenced includes Genesis 3, as we discuss the very first excuses made by Adam and Eve, as well as Hebrews 12, which gives us a summation of Jesus’ ministry.

These discussions are best aimed at 9-14 - prime years when the excuse-making habit can begin to take over.

Page count: 25 pgs.
